Alan Bellomo began volunteering at the Humane Society of Cambria County in the fall of 2021 alongside his two sons, Isaac and Benjamin. At first, Isaac and Benjamin interacted and spent time with our cats while Alan walked dogs and participated in pack walks. Now, Alan and his sons enjoy spending time not only with our animals but with each other while volunteering! Isaac volunteers his time by playing with our cats while his brother and dad take our adoptable dogs on walks for both physical and mental stimulation. Alan and his sons have jumped right into being dedicated and consistent volunteers! The dogs and cats currently residing at the Humane Society benefit greatly from the one-on-one time Alan and his sons provide. Alan and his family have a familiarity with shelter dogs in their home life, as their dog Zoey—an Alaskan Malamute—came from a shelter. The Bellomos also care for thirty chickens and four ducks! Just as our cats and dogs rely on volunteers like Alan and his sons, our animals make a big impact in their lives! Having the animals that you grow close to go off to their furever homes is, of course, an emotional experience; however, knowing that they have found love and acceptance in a home makes it all worthwhile, as that is the goal for all of our animals! Alan and his family look forward to many more years of volunteering, just as we and our animals look forward to having dedicated and caring volunteers like them around! Thank you for sharing your time to make an impact on our animals!
